Indian airlines betting on hotel bookings via own sites

Mumbai: India's three top airlines - Jet Airways, Indigo and Air India - are planning more tie-ups with hotel operators and aggregators for budget as well as two and three star hotels on their websites in order to boost their ancillary revenue.

"We have been selling holiday packages for the last few years but have concentrated on hotels in the last six months," said a top executive at Jet Airways, India's second biggest airline by market share.
Jet is the only airline which allows bookings of hotel rooms via its website - mostly luxury properties in Indian as well as international destinations.
"We are planning to significantly expand that product in the next few months. We will add more hotels to our inventory, especially two and three star as well as budget hotels," he added, not wanting to be named.
