Mangalore: Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport seized Begonia brand of Iranian saffron weighing 12kgs from a passenger who arrived from Dubai on Thursday.
The value of the contraband is approximately Rs12 lakh and was recovered from Abdul Rasheed Karimboonnummal Vadakkayil, a resident of Mattannur, Kannur district of Kerala. A departmental communique here stated that the saffron was concealed along with clothes and other personal belongings inside one carton box that Abdul Rasheed had in his possession.
