Pune: The two Myanmarese nationals who used fake passports to go to Sharjah recently chose the Lohegaon airport here to fly out of the country because it doesn't have an electronic system for verification of documents, police investigations have revealed.
A senior police officer told TOI, "The authorities manning the immigration check point (ICP) at the airport clear passports manually. The passports seized from the two men were prepared to perfection. They managed to clear the
ICP without the authorities even remotely suspecting that the passports could be fake. However, the passports were detected as fake at Sharjah airport which has an electronic verification system." Duo had used many sim cards.
