New Delhi: Air Seychelles, the national carrier of Republic of
Seychelles, is keen to restart operations to India by the end of this
year, pending approval from civil aviation authorities in India. A
visiting delegation from Seychelles, led by the country’s Tourism and
Culture Minister, Alain St. Ange, had discussions with the Indian Union
Ministries of Civil Aviation; Tourism; and Micro, Small & Medium
Enterprises in New Delhi yesterday. The discussion was on the need for
direct air connectivity between India and Seychelles to promote trade
and tourism between the two destinations.
Speaking to TravelBiz Monitor on the sidelines of an event organised by Seychelles Tourism, St. Ange said that the direct air connectivity would “change the whole dynamics” of trade and tourism relations between the two countries. “If we can show Indian travellers that Seychelles is a four hours’ flight from India, they will consider it a close neighbour. Cost-wise also it will become affordable to many,” he stated.
