Art Matters: 'Jaya He' at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: The Art project at Mumbai airport initiated by Sanjay Reddy, Vice President of the GVK group, has propelled Mumbai into the A-list of National Geographic's 'Smart Cities' across the world. With an expected annual footfall of 40 million, the terminal can claim to be the most visited museum in the world.

T2 will show off some of the best of Indian art and craft to foreign as well as Indian visitors.  Rajiv Sethi, the curator of this project, has brought together traditional craftsmen and eminent artists to work with historic pieces and create new ones. Rajiv Sethi goes on to say, "I have never differentiated. I have never created hierarchies between what's considered art and what's considered craft'.

That's why this project titled 'Jaye He' is seeing several exciting collaborations, like contemporary artist Nilima Sheikh working alongside  Fayaz Ahmad Jan -- who comes from a family of master papier-mache workers -- and celebrated craftsman Lal Singh Bhati creating a cheel gadi together with Bhupinder.
