Panaji: Developing the state as an aviation hub is one of the key
initiatives of the draft civil aviation policy likely to be released
later this month.
Other important initiatives include opening up aviation training institutes in the state, encouraging aero-sports and aero-modeling activities and promoting airlines to lift more aviation turbine fuel (ATF) in Goa by way of refund on VAT on ATF.
The civil aviation policy hopes to make gains in the aviation sector, a fast growing industry in the country. Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has given glimpses of his plan in this sector in his last two budgets. In 2013, the Goa government had slashed VAT on ATF refuelling in the state from 22% to 12.5%.
He had recently told mediapersons that the civil aviation policy is ready and will be released by September-end.
