Lucknow: Airport unfit to screen ebola

Lucknow:  A chair and table are the only things that the Ebola screening room at Amausi airport has. There is no bed where passengers may be examined or waiting area for them to sit while waiting for check-up. Even the air conditioner in that room does not work. The entire airport premises though are air conditioned.

A union heath ministry team, headed by Dr KK Mitra, that inspected Ebola preparedness of the city on Wednesday afternoon expectedly went back with a negative image of the airport authorities and the health department. While airport officials failed to explain the lack of basic requirements, health officials expressed helplessness.

Chief medical officer Dr SNS Yadav said, "Doctors are posted here round-the-clock but they do not even have a proper place to sit. We have requested the airport authorities to be sensitive to our needs".
