New Delhi: Qantas Airways has been asked by a consumer forum here to
pay Rs 75,000, including compensation, to a married couple over missing
baggage during a journey.
New Delhi Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, presided by C K Chaturvedi, asked the airline to pay the money to Gurgaon residents Namrata Bhargav and her husband Ankit Gulati, noting that though the bag was found and returned to the flyers after four days, the company had offered a very small amount of compensation.
"In our view, such a small sum offered (by the airlines) cannot be sufficient to meet even ordinary food needs. Without going in details and in view of admission of Opposite Parties, we award a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the complainant...and Rs 25,000 as litigation expenses," the forum said.
The complainants had told the forum that their bag was misplaced by the airlines during the journey when they were on a honeymoon trip.
