TAAI:Secretary & Director General -Tourism, Govt of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Amrit Abhijat, inaugurates TAAI’s 20th Regionl Unit in Lucknow


TRAVEL AGENTS ASSOCIATION  OF INDIA  (TAAI)   is proud to inform  that  its 20th Regional Unit - The Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand  was inaugurated by  Secretary &  DG Tourism Mr. Amrit Abhijat, Govt of Uttar  Pradesh on  7th September,  2014 along with TAAI Acting  President Mr Sunil Kumar.
 Hon Secretary General - Mr Harmandeep Singh Anand,  Managing Committee Member and  Chairman TAAI Membership Development Council - Mr Kirti  Vyas,   alongwith  Chairman of TAAI Northern Region, Mr Rajan Sehgal,  Hon. Secretary - Neeraj Malhotra and  Hon Treasurer - Gaurav Dogra  graced   the important occasion.   Shri Om Prakash, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Uttar Pradesh,  had graciously consented to inaugurate the Chapter but due to last minute party engagements. was unable to do so.  However he was  kind enough to send his personal message and greetings that was read out by Mr  Harmandeep who conducted the  proceedings.
The opening  commenced with   the welcome of   Shri Amrit Abhijat by Mr. Neeraj Malhotra. and welcome of Mr. Sunil Kumar R by Mr. Gaurav Dogra..

Mr. Sunil Kumar   spoke about TAAI's strength by its number of Regions & Chapters &   emphasized the role of a TAAI agent. He mentioned about the State Tourism Ministers’ National conference held recently in Delhi. where both Mr. Arun Jaitely, Hon'ble  Union Minister For Finance and Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge).  had emphasized the need for  reliable tourism. The DG  spoke  about the policies of the  government and  how  UP is marching towards a big change in its Tourism policies and that within a year these changes would be noticeably visible. He  assured TAAI of all cooperation in its ventures and invited  TAAI to hold more of its meetings and seminars in UP.
The Chapter’s  new team of office bearers, Mr. Sunil B Satyawakta as Chairman , Mr. Kirti Kumar Srivastava as Hon Secretary  and Mr. Syed Maqbool Ahmed as Hon Treasurer were  then appointed.  Mr. Rajan Sehgal assured Mr. Amrit Abhijat of holding its  Northern Region meeting in Lucknow.
Mr Satyawakta  mentioned about how as  a Chapter  Chairman  he  has  plans to make his chapter a bridge between his members and the tourism authority. He also assured the DG that with the big network of 2500 agents of TAAI members,  festivals like Lucknow Mahotsav, Taj Mahotsav and Safai Mahotsav would be made a big success by bringing in tourists from all parts of India and overseas.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Kirti Kumar Srivastava.
 The Chapter  has  65  members  in its  ambit  in the Active, Associate and Allied categories. all  part of TAAI Northern region and now carved out as a separate chapter.
 The Uttar Pradesh  & Uttarakhand chapter will have members from Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainital, Roorkee, Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Varanasi & other cities of Uttar Pradesh  & Uttarakhand where TAAI members are present and  would exclude members in Noida & Ghaziabad, who will continue to be a part of TAAI Northern Region . The 3  office bearers   will  look after  the operations of the Unit as  a whole   and  will cater  to  its myriad activities for the benefit of its members. Among the prominent members present were-  Dr Bharat Bisht and Mr Sanjay Mehrotra from Dehradun , Mr Pawan Kumar from Nanital , Mr Basuki Nath from Gorakhpur , Mr Shariq Alvi  from Kanpur and many other Members from Lucknow Area.
The Chapter is  all  set  to  increase its membership soon  and will  play an  integral part  in enhancing tourism to Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand supported by the concerned tourism departments.
