Thiruvananthapuram: A Jet Airways flight (9W 565) from Dammam to
Thiruvananthapuram hit an air pocket en-route, causing minor injuries to
six passengers, said an official of the airlines.
The pilot informed the Trivandrum international airport air traffic control about the incident and sought medical support on landing. The air turbulence had occurred three hours after takeoff from the King Fahd International Airport at Dammam in Saudi Arabia.
"The flight landed here on schedule at 7.25am. As we did not know about the nature of injuries, the Jet Airways medical support and the AAI's doctor and ambulance were waiting. However, only two of the six passengers needed to be taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. There was no incident of falling baggage, but they did get knocked around in their seats," said the airline official.
"The flight hit the air pocket somewhere near Mumbai. As the injuries were very minor, the flight crew decided to land at its destination. The AAI is providing all help to the injured," said Trivandrum airport director Dharmaraj.
