New Delhi: It took five days of grueling negotiations in Paris last week
for IndiGo and Airbus to sign the biggest ever single order deal for
narrow body aircraft. The "very little sleep" days started Wednesday
when IndiGo founders Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal and airline
president Aditya Ghosh started the make-or-break talks with Airbus's top
three — president and CEO Fabrice Bregier, COO John Leahy and Airbus
India president Kiran Rao.
Finally, the deal was cleared on Sunday morning when the six managed to finalize a "win-win" deal which Airbus's Kiran Rao describes as "one of the top five aircraft purchase deals in aviation history".
