Pune: Acting on a tip-off, the customs department here seized gold bars weighing 7kg from the men's toilet on the first floor of the immigration hall of the Pune airport on Friday morning. The bars are worth Rs 1.92 crore.
It is suspected that a passenger of the Sharjah-Pune Spicejet flight, which arrived at the airport at 5.20 am, must have kept the bars in the toilet.
"It is also possible that the bars would eventually be cleared by someone working at the airport," customs commissioner Vasa Seshagiri Rao said in a statement.
