Belagavi: The three persons, who were detained at the airport at Sambra under Marihal Police Station limits on Friday evening after they were found allegedly carrying unaccounted for gold, were later arrested the same night.
The accused, who were initially believed to be from Tamil Nadu, were identified as Raju Jain (35), Dastageer Nooruddin Sahik (27) and Majeed Nazeer Khan (30), all residents of Belagavi city. They were illegally transporting the consignment of nearly 3.4 kg of gold worth Rs. 90 lakh from the city to Chennai.
