Airport contractor held for throwing loud party

Nashik: The government contractor, earlier reported to have thrown a riotous party in a defence zone while being in control of the airport, was on Thursday arrested and remanded to three days’ police custody. Meanwhile, the state excise department too slapped a case against him under prohibition laws.

Dindori police station in-charge Sanjay Shukla confirmed the development saying, “The contractor Vilas Birari was on Thursday produced before a court in Dindori which remanded him to police custody till February 7.”
Readers may recall that Mr Birari had on Sunday arranged a farewell party for Public Works Department (PWD) Superintendent Engineer P.Y. Deshmukh at the Nashik airport, near Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), a defence major which manufactures fighter jets.
