Code cracked to bag the cheapest flight tickets?

Mumbai: If there were a formula that one could employ and net the lowest of airfares in spite of their fickle nature, the diligent lot would sit comfortably on that narrow airplane seat and be smug in the knowledge that they have bagged the best deal on offer. Unfortunately, airfares come with their share of surprises. But an airfare search engine has claimed to have cracked a formula that offers country-wise advice on the best time, savings-wise, to book an international air ticket.

"Savvy Indians who wish to increase their chances of getting the cheapest fares in 2015 should typically look at booking flights 18 weeks before departure," said a survey carried out by travel search engine, Skyscanner. "The results, which follow the analysis of the last three years' worth of data, and over 250 million flight prices, also found that the best time to book varies a great deal from destination to destination... The data is based on actual customer behaviour and actual prices paid by customers," it adds.
