‘Molestation victim’ turns hostile, instructor suspended

Indore : In a sudden change of events, a trainee woman pilot, who alleged molestation by an instructor at Madhya Pradesh Flying Club (MPFC) — backtracked on her allegation on Friday even as the club authorities suspended the accused instructor.
SP (West) Abid Khan said that the 27-year-old trainee pilot from Amravati in Maharashtra sent a letter to the Aerodrome police, mentioning that she had a verbal altercation with instructor Tapan Bhunia but she mistakenly exaggerated the issue and she was sorry for it.

The trainee pilot’s brother had turned up at Aerodrome police station and handed over her letter to the police.
“Though the woman had written that she exaggerated the matter, her statements will be taken under Section 164 of the CrPc to ensure that she was not changing her statement under pressure,” Khan said.

If she continues to stick to her new stand in the case, she is likely to be booked under Section 182 and 211 of the IPC for filing a false molestation case.
The Aerodrome police had filed a molestation case against Bhunia on Wednesday on her complaint.
After learning about the incident, the club authorities on Friday morning suspended Bhunia and initiated a departmental inquiry against him.
“If charges against him are found true, Bhunia will be terminated,” said MPFC secretary Milind Mahajan earlier in the day.
