New Delhi: The final proposal of the new civil aviation policy will be sent to Cabinet for approval soon, according to an aviation joint secretary.
The final consultation on aviation policy will be completed by mid-February, and the New Aviation Policy is expected in 3 to 4 months.
The proposed new civil aviation policy scraps the 5/20 rule, which had prevented the growth of the sector, as well as individual airlines. The rule required domestic carriers to have a fleet of 20 aircraft and five years of operational experience to undertake international journeys. The policy prioritized time flown over passenger miles.
