Passengers flying out of Pune Airport to various metros have a reason to smile — at the end of this month, Jet Airways will be introducing three new domestic flights to Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai, while Vistara Airlines — the Tata Group's joint venture carrier with Singapore Airlines — will also launch its first Delhi-Pune- Delhi flight next month.
Vistara's announcement to launch the service is acknowledgement of Pune's importance in its rapidly expanding route network. From April 9, the new flight will be functional daily — departing for Delhi at 6.45 am, reaching Pune at 9 am, then departing again at 9.45 am and reaching Delhi at 11.50 am.
Nilesh Bhansali, director of the Travel Agents Association of Pune, said, "Currently, Vistara is operating Delhi-based flights connecting with Mumbai and the North East. The new flight to Pune will give it connectivity for other domestic and international flights as well."
