Beware flyers! even airports are not theft-free, proves CISF

New Delhi: If you are gullible, you may be taken for a ride even at the airport. Not even a security appartus will come to your aid to identify the thief on air. CISF has busted such a gang, comprising of members who pose as genuine flyers may grab a seat next to you and would be gone with your baggage in no time.
Shockingly, a massive network of gangs is responsible for over a dozen high-profile thefts at major airports recently. After intense observation and strategising, the agency has been able to arrest just three while more are still at large. CISF believe that insider's are also involved.
These gangs have so far committed over 100 thefts in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai airports. In fact, they are adept in fooling th Customs at the international airports too. One of the modus operandi is the thief would board the flight with just a registered baggage and then flee with other people's baggage from the destination airport. "They would pick up others' luggage from nearby conveyer belts," a senior airport official said. These gangs would single out their targets during check-in and they would flee with their baggage before they can reach the conveyer belt.
