Budding engineers give wings to aeromodelling club

Vadodara: Around 50 km from the city, a group of budding engineers are trying their hands on flying aircrafts. They are busy learning how to design, build and assemble model aircrafts, make drones, procure powered and non-powered aircrafts under the umbrella of aeromodelling club - which is shaping up as first such aeromodelling club in Gujarat exclusively run by students.

Every Saturday, around 20 such students of the Institute of Technology and Management (ITM) Universe, Vadodara located on Halol highway give flight to their imaginations by using materials like balsa wood and paper among others to create miniaturized aircrafts that they can fly in the open skies in their campus.

"Aeromodelling is the art of designing, constructing and flying model airplanes, helicopters and rockets. It is both a hobby and an internationally recognized sport which isn't popular in Gujarat so far," says Divyabhanusinh Rana, who conducts workshops on aeromodelling, robotics and model rocketry.
