New Delhi: Air India's captain Nivedita Bhasin created history of sorts on this Women's Day. She commandeered an AI Dreamliner on the Delhi-Australia route on Sunday with an all women crew.
Exactly 30 years back, she was a co-pilot on India's first all women crew flight operated by erstwhile Indian Airlines.
At that time, Bhasin — a young co-pilot then — had flown a Fokker Friendship F-27 from Kolkata to Silchar under the command of Captain Saudamini Deshmukh -- India's first woman commander — with all female cabin crew in November 1985.
Sunday's flight was supposed to be even more special. Coroby Pathak was a young airhostess om the first all women crew flight operated 30 years back. She was to operate as cabin crew incharge (senior most airhostess) on Sunday's flight to Australia with Bhasin. However, she could not make it for this flight, AI 302, and Bhasin took off with another chief airhostess.
