Surat: Diamond trade between Surat and Saurashtra is set to get a major boost with Diamond Aeronautics Limited (DAL), an airline company floated by the diamond barons, announcing daily flights to Rajkot starting March 27. The decision to connect Surat with Rajkot was taken after the successful operation of Surat-Bhavnagar daily flights.
Sources said the delivery of rough and polished diamonds between Surat and Saurashtra would become easy for the traders and angadias. At present, DAL is operating five daily flights between Surat and Bhavnagar of its nine seater Cessna aircrafts.
Chief executive officer of DAL Kartikey Garasia told TOI, "Surat-Rajkot flight will be operated six days a week except for Wednesday. Those wanting to fly early to Delhi could board the Air India flight from Rajkot airport in the morning. There are plans to add more destinations in the state in the next couple of months."
