Mangaluru: Acting on credibled information, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Mangaluru, with the assistance of customs department at Mangalore International Airport, seized a huge quantity of foriegn currency notes of different countries on the night of Wednesday March 12 and arrested a Jeddah-bound passenger.
The currency notes were seized from a passenger identified as Kamar Mohamed Moula Kadira, aged about 35 years, a resident of Manki, Honnavar.
The foreign currency seized include US dollars, more than 50,000 Saudi riyals, assorted foreign currencies like British pounds, Qatar riyals, Oman riyals, Bahrain dinars, and Kuwait dinars. The total value of the currency seized is Rs 54,74,754.
