Singapore: The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has extended its continued sympathies to the families of the passengers and crew of the crashed Malaysia Airlines (MAS) MH370.
In a statement issued on Saturday, ICAO said that while 2014 was one of aviation’s safest years looking at how few accidents took place, the crashes of MH370 and MH17 identified some important gaps which can arise under rare operational circumstances.
ICAO also extended its ongoing support to all nations and agencies still involved in search efforts.
The organisation added that the aviation community was addressing those gaps and would continue to make the safety of passengers and aircraft its highest priority.
It added that in response to the loss of MH370, new regulations were laid down at ICAO's second High-Level Safety Conference held at its Montreal, Canada headquarters.
