MP calls for parliament inquiry into MH370 tragedy

Bukit Mertajam:  The government has been urged to follow Australia’s example and hold a full debate in Parliament about the MH370 tragedy.
Steven Sim, the MP for Bukit Mertajam said Australia had held a debate on Thursday, with Standing Orders suspended to allow Opposition leader Bill Shorten equal time for the prime minister to respond to a motion on MH370.

A full parliamentary sitting should be devoted towards MH370, on the same basis as another MAS tragedy, the shooting down of MH17 over Ukraine while en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.
Both tragedies were of national concern, he said in a statement today.
Sim urged Najib Razak to show his commitment towards truth, justice and closure for MH370 victims by allowing a parliamentary inquiry into the MH370 tragedy by a select committee to be headed by an opposition MP.
A government white paper should then be published after the inquiry.
