CHENNAI: Shattering of glass panels and doors continues at Chennai
airport as another glass panel fell off on Saturday at the new domestic
terminal. An airport official said the panel did not fall off but broke
because of a worker's fault.
"The worker pushed the glass panel which was near a door and it broke under pressure. Nobody was injured. It is not because of the quality of the glass but due to poor handling of the facility," said an official of Airports Authority of India. However, repeated breaking of glass panels have created a concern regarding passenger safety at Chennai and Kolkata airports - both developed by AAI. In Kolkata airport, a CISF jawan fell to his death after he stepped into a sheet that tried to cover a hole, created by a broken glass tile, on a glass-floored bridge on Saturday.
