Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar told the Goa legislative assembly on Thursday that Goa need not worry about Chipi airport in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. The construction of Chipi airport began in 2013. He said that at a recent meeting in Delhi, Maharashtra Infrastructure Development Corporation (MIDC), which is developing Chipi airport, was advised by the Union ministry of civil aviation to revisit the development of the airport.
Parsekar made the statement in response to queries by opposition leader Pratapsing Rane who said Chipi airport would affect tourist flow to Goa. Parsekar said the issue was raised by MIDC itself, and the corporation has been asked to revise the master plan for the airport and submit a report in two months.
