Failing to accommodate passengers costs dearly for Air India; now to pay Rs 5 lakh per customer

Kochi: Last minute hassle, confusion in passengers list, extra passengers on flight, all seem to be quite common these days. The airlines which is always in the news for complaints filed by customers, got a slap in the face after a redressal commission asked the airlines to pay Rs 5 lakh each to two people they failed to let in the flight.

The Kerala State Consumer Redressal Commission has ordered Air Indian to pay Rs 5 lakh each to passengers who were not accommodated in the airlines inspite of having valid tickets. According to a Deccan Chronicle Report, two passengers who had book e-tickets from Agatti, Lakshadweep islands to Kochi on May 10, 2014 and return from Kochi to Thiruvanathapuram on May 11, 2014.
The Report says that the Air India could not let the passengers as their names were not seen in the passenger list. The airlines said that it was due to migration of Alliance Air System to SITA on May 9, 2014.
