Ahmedabad: If you are planning a visit to Dubai in the next few days, then be ready to shell out extra bucks for air tickets. The huge traffic on he Ahmedabad-Dubai route including large numbers of ravelling NRGs and visitors to the Dubai Shopping Festival has led to a spike in air fares.
Ordinarily , a one-way ticket for a single person from Ahmedabad to Dubai costs around Rs 8,000 for a non-stop light. Currently , the same tickets are fetching prices upwards of Rs 25,000.
Tour operators and travel agents in the city claim that the rush for Dubai Shopping Festival has led to higher fares, as airlines are running out of seats. "The airlines operate on dynamic pricing.Fewer tickets sold, higher the fare. This is what is happening right now. More than 95% of international flights from Ahmedabad operate to and from destinations in UAE. On an average, there is a movement of over 50,000 passengers from Gujarat to Dubai almost every week," said a city-based travel agent.
