Fog delays 39 flights, none cancelled

New Delhi: The visibility at IGI airport reduced early on Friday morning due to fog resulting in 39 flights getting disrupted. Low-visibility procedures were implemented for more than nine hours delaying 17 departures and 22 arrivals. However, no flight cancellations were reported.

Airport officials said visibility dipped drastically between 12am and 9.30am. However, they claimed that timely updates of the delays were maintained and adequate arrangements made in advance to deal with the increased number of passengers at the terminals.
"Low visibility procedures were lifted at 9.22am. The runway visual range was low, but the flights landed under CAT-I operations. The visibility was not very poor as no flights required to land under CAT-IIIA or CAT-IIIB conditions. As pilots have a limited view from the cockpit, a follow-me service is available for situations when visibility dips drastically," said an airport official.
