Mangaluru airport handles record passengers in 2015-16

Mangaluru: Mangaluru lnternational Airport (MIA) has witnessed a record handling of passengers in 2015-16, expecting more than 16 lakh passengers in this year. There is a growth of 40% in international passengers and 15% in domestic passenger movements in his year and overall about 22% growth compared to previous year.

Mangaluru lnternational Airport is 12th largest airport handling the international passengers in India after Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Calicut, Thiruvanthapuram, Ahmadabad, andTrichy airports.
It is expected that more flights are being introduced in domestic and international sectors in the coming days due to the tratfic trends overall in the country. In December 2015, MIA recorded highest number of passenger's per month at 162000 passengers.
