Weather blues continue, fog grounds 2 flights, delays 5

Chandigarh: Two flights were cancelled while at least five flights were delayed due to poor visibility at the civil terminal of the Chandigarh airport here today. However, passengers stranded at the airport blamed the VIP visit of French president Francois Hollande and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the same.

Two flights of Indigo Airlines bound for Delhi at 4.30 pm were cancelled following poor visibility. While the ATC (Air Traffic Control) maintained that the flights were never landed in Chandigarh to further depart from here due to poor visibility, the harassed passengers kept on blaming the VIP visit behind the cancellation. “The operations at the Chandigarh airport went on smooth like other days. Only two flights were cancelled following poor visibility while a few others were delayed by just a few minutes. There was no quandary due to the VIP visit at the Chandigarh airport. During the arrival of the VIPs, two planes landed while during their departure no plane was scheduled to take off or land here. So, there was no trouble in operations today,” said the airport manager on duty.
