Passengers carried by domestic airlines during Jan 2016 were 76.55 lakhs as against 62.45 lakhs during the corresponding period of previous year thereby registering a growth of 22.58%, according to DGCA data.
DGCA data said that IndiGo continued its leadership position by flying 35.6% of total passengers flown during the month, while Air India remained third largest by flying 16% of total passengers flown during the month.
On the load factor front, SpiceJet continued to lead by flying its planes with 92.1% of its seats full, while GoAir flying its planes with 84.9% of its seats full.
The passenger load factor in the month of January 2016 has slightly decreased compared to previous month primarily due to the end of tourist season.
