Chandigarh: Indigo Airlines has been directed by Chandigarh District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum to pay a compensation of Rs 10,000 to a couple from Panchkula.
Subhash Chander Sharma and his wife, Parveen Kumari, residents of Sector 14, had in their complaint claimed that on November 2, 2014, they had purchased two tickets from Chandigarh to Hyderabad and back for Rs 23,278. The departure date was December 20, 2014, and the return date was December 31.
The couple claimed that they had planned to go to Hyderabad to see their daughter, but, due to cancelation of tickets, they were forced to book the tickets at current rate on December 20, 2014.
The couple claimed that they reached the Chandigarh airport for taking their flight and were issued boarding passes for the flight. But, at around about 1.57pm, they received a message on their mobile phone that the flight had been canceled, though the departure time of the flight was 12.50pm.
