No Long Hair or Sideburns: AI Crew Told to Button Up and Fly Right

Airline crews the world over are known for their impeccable uniform and appearance. That may, however, not seem true for the Maharaja's pilots and cabin staff.

An upset Air India (AI) management has warned its crew to adhere to the dress code.


"I am sure you are all aware of the gradually deteriorating crew uniform standards over a period of time. Let us show pride in ourselves, our uniform and Air India so as to look better than any other airline crew," the national carrier's chief of operations Captain Arvind Kathpalia said in a January 16 communication.

For example, male crew members are not permitted to have "long hair, long sideburns, intimidating moustache or very long unkempt beards and to affect a ponytail or earrings and nose ring in uniform".
