IRCTC has launched IRCTC Air, now book cheaper flight tickets

IRCTC has launched a mobile application for booking flights called IRCTC Air on the Google Play Store  that offers you to book flight tickets faster than any other app out there, with lowest fares possible. Offering 24/7 customer services users will be able to make flight bookings for domestic as well as international flights.  Last month, IRCTC announced that waitlisted passengers would be able to upgrade to Air India tickets in case of availability at zero or a little extra cost.

A user on IRCTC’s train app will be able to use the same login credentials on this app. The tickets have been made relatively cheaper by eliminating any convenience/processing fee usually levied by travel agents. However, Rs. 10 per flight PNR will be charged to the customer in case the payment is made through net banking.  A fee of 1.8% of the total flight fare will be charged for bookings done from the app using credit cards. There is no option to pay via wallets but allows users to pay via cash cards from ItzCash, OxiCash, Beam Cash Card (Rs 10 or 1.5% whichever is lower). A full list of charges is provided on the app while users book a ticket.

Cancellation: IRCTC says it would refund tickets which were cancelled within 30 days. According to this Times of India report, the cancellation charges on the app will be ‘minimal’.

He further added that the facility is going to leverage the technology to provide the best experience to customers. The service goes head-on with Makemytrip, Yatra and Cleartrip, which have been in this industry for quite some time now.
