Union civil aviation minister Raju invites air link activists to Delhi

Surat: Union civil aviation minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju has invited representatives of citizen groups crusading for a working airport in Surat to New Delhi to hear their grievances regarding air connectivity on Friday.
Representatives of 'We Want Working Airport at Surat' (WWWAS) and 'Surat Airport Action Committee' (SAAC) will be meeting the minister in the capital.

Meanwhile, WWWAS members are also meeting a couple of private airline companies, including Vistara to ask them to operate from Surat. This is first time ever that citizen groups have been invited for discussion on issues facing the airport and lack of air connectivity from Surat.
WWWAS member Sanjay Jain, who is in New Delhi, said, "This is going to be an important meeting with the civil aviation minister. We are confident of a positive outcome." According to Jain, Air India (AI) in the last six months of Airbus operation between Surat and Delhi, has earned more than Rs 3 crore. Despite such an income generation, the AI has refused to increase air connectivity.
