Visakhapatnam: In a customer satisfaction survey conducted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the January-June 2016 period on a five-point scale, Visakhapatnam Airport scored 4.39 and has been ranked 20th out of the 53 airports that are operated by AAI across the country.
However, among the four airports in the state, Visakhapatnam Airport ranked first followed by Rajahmundry Airport (overall rank- 37), Tirupati (38) and Vijayawada Airport (41).
Factors such as ground transportation to and from the airport, availability of ATM facilities, arrivals passport and visa inspection, availability of parking facilities, efficiency of check-in staff, thoroughness of security inspection, ease of finding your way through airport turned out to be positive for the airport receiving more than four points out of five. However, customs inspection, comfort of waiting/gate areas, cleanliness of washrooms and toilets, restaurant facilities (value for money) received less than four points in the survey.
The survey that was conducted for a period of six months also witnessed internet access/wi-fi and business/executive lounges being graded at 4.27 points out of five points for the first time after they were introduced at the airport.
