New Delhi: The prevailing low airfares due to competition among airlines, is likely to be the catalyst for tourism to grow in India.
The way airlines have reduced fares might be a part of their corporate strategy, but it will definitely help tourism," Vinod Zutshi, secretary, Ministry of Tourism said at an event organised to brief the public on the upcoming Bharat Parv.
Airlines like Air India announced their Monsoon Sale, offering domestic flight tickets starting from Rs 1,199 (all inclusive one-way fare) and international flight tickets from Rs 15,999 (all inclusive) on its select domestic and international sectors respectively. Similarly, Spicejet and Indigo have followed suit bringing down their domestic air fares, starting from as low as Rs 399 and Rs 806 respectively.
