Lucknow: The Ministry of civil aviation has decide to replace the old aero-bridges at the Amausi airport with new one. Airport sources said that the aero bridges installed at the domestic terminal building - it was inaugurated in 2012 only - were actually 15 years old and brought from the Hyderabad airport.
Airport Authority of India had been pressing the ministry of replacement of the bridges for the past two and half years after snags started developing in the facility. Often passengers too reported about the inconvenience caused to them because of the poor quality of the aero bridges.
The AAI is learnt to have got a formal approval to replace the old aero bridges almost two months ago. When contacted Lucknow airport director PK Srivastava said that the work will start as per the direction of the ministry. Sources said that it may still take nearly seven to eight months before the new aero bridges are installed at the Lucknow airport.
