Committee pushes for 24-hr Jolly Grant airport

In good news for flyers, an airport advisory committee has forwarded a proposal to keep the Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun open round the clock.

Lok Sabha MP and chairman of the aviation committee Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank held a meeting with officials of both Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Uttarakhand government on preparing the roadmap for the airport's planned expansion.

Nishank said this move is necessary as the Dehradun airport is an important airport in North India and sees a lot of tourist traffic.

"The expansion of the airport requires land and it will be the responsibility of the Uttarakhand government. I have instructed the officials to hasten the process so that the AAI team can start its work," Nishank said.

The MP said the airport will incorporate a cargo terminal and domestic and international terminals.
