SpiceJet flags off 16 new flights with dedicated fleet of Q400s

Budget carrier SpiceJet has once again reiterated its regional connectivity agenda this time with a special focus on North-East India. Fastening the north eastern states on its pan-India radar the airline flagged off 16 new flights on the Kolkata-Silchar-Guwahati, Kolkata-Aizawl-Guwahati and Kolkata-Gorakhpur-Delhi routes. SpiceJet is the first low-cost carrier to introduce direct daily flights on the Guwahati-Silchar, Guwahati-Aizawl, Aizawl-Kolkata, Gorakhpur-Delhi and Gorakhpur-Kolkata routes.

SpiceJet intends to penetrate the underserved markets within its domestic network and thereby aims to enhance regional connectivity. Whilst the airline has outlined new markets on to its network inclusive of Silchar, Gorakhpur and Aizawl, it will also deploy a dedicated fleet of three Q400 for the north-eastern markets.

On October 4, SpiceJet flagged off its new flights from Guwahati, Aizawl and Gorakhpur. The airline will also operate new flights on sectors like Kolkata-Silchar-Guwahati; Kolkata-Aizawl-Guwahati and Kolkata-Gorakhpur-Delhi. Kolkata-Visakhapatnam-Kolkata flights are effective from 1st November.
