Ahmedabad: In the wake of the festive season and with NRI season just round the corner, 15 new flights were introduced to and from the city airport to handle the rush of fliers. This was part of the new winter schedule, announced by the director general of civil aviation last week. The 15 new flights include those arriving from and headed to five major destinations including Goa, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Pune.
Low-cost carrier, SpiceJet announced three new flights from the city, to Goa, Bangalore and Chennai. "After May this year, the runway was closed for maintenance between 10am and 6pm. However, the work was completed before schedule and flight operations have resumed leading to the inclusion of new flights," said A K Sharma, director, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
