More flights to take off from Lohegaon airport by January

The city's air connectivity is set for a major fillip with more flights being added on popular routes.
On Sunday, AirAsia started its second flight from Bengaluru to Pune and back. With this, the total number of daily flights on the route has increased to 14. "The new AirAsia flight from Bengaluru to Pune and back will operate on new slots approved by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Indian Air Force (IAF). It will leave from Pune for Bengaluru (I5-1458) at 17.45 hours. From Bengaluru (I5-1321), it will depart for Pune daily at 15.45 hours," Ajay Kumar, director of Lohegaon Airport, told TOI.

Besides, he said, more flights from Pune to Delhi and Chandigarh will be added in January next year.
"The introduction of new flights is aimed at giving more options to flyers at the Lohegaon Airport. The new AirAsia flight is the 138th scheduled movement from Pune and it is set to rise to 142 after the introduction of new flights to Delhi and Chandigarh next year," the director said, indicating that a total of four new flights will start for Chandigarh and Delhi from next year onward.
