Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad was put on high
alert on Wednesday. Security officials termed it a routine move ahead of
Republic Day celebrations.
They said alerts are issued every year before the Republic Day, aimed at preventing untoward incidents. Following the alert, patrolling within the premises was intensified even as more security personnel were deployed. Officials denied that the alert had anything to do with bomb scare reported at Mumbai airport earlier this week.
