Queuing up at the check-in counter for boarding pass will be a thing of
the past with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) launching the Common
Use Self-Service (CUSS) kiosks at the domestic and international
terminals of Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.
Developed by the AAI and SITA, the facility, installed near the X-ray machine on the way to check-in counters of various airlines, is to reduce check-in time at the counters and avoid inconvenience to passengers travelling only with hand baggage.
To get the boarding pass, a passenger would have to feed in their PNR number using the touchscreen of the system and other details and select a seat of their choice from the seating chart.
The boarding pass will be generated and printed immediately. Self check-in is not allowed if one has luggage other than hand baggage.
The airlines have posted personnel to help passengers get accustomed to the system.
