Indira Gandhi International Airport offers fourth-fastest Wi-Fi speeds among airports in Asia: Ookla

Ookla conducted a survey between March and May this year to analyze the Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity at the busiest airports in Asia. The survey was conducted in countries like the UAE, South Korea, Japan, India, Thailand and more. In India, the speed test was conducted in New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The survey also highlights the difference between speeds offered by Wi-Fi and cellular network, and which one can be opted.


In terms of Wi-Fi connectivity at airports, Dubai International airport bagged the top position with 39.50 Mbps download speed and 46.27 Mbps upload speed.
Dubai’s Wi-Fi speed was commended since its recorded the fastest amongst airports in Asia, Europe and Africa as well. Seoul Incheon International Airport in South Korea came second with download speeds of 26.52 Mbps, followed by Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan with download speeds of 18.28 Mbps. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport took the fourth place with 15.95 Mbps of download speed and 14.98 Mbps of upload speed. The free Wi-Fi service at IGI Airport is provided by Tata Docomo. Telecom operator Vodafone also launched its free Wi-Fi service at the IGI Airport last October.
