Air service negotiation between the Philippines & India to begin soon

New Delhi: Speaking to select media in Delhi after flagging off new batch of radio taxis with the Philippines Tourism promotional graffiti, Ma Teresita C Daza, Ambassador of the Philippines to India said that having no direct air service between India and the Philippines is a serious disadvantage, especially in terms of attracting big groups and big Indian weddings. However, she said that the air service negotiations between the two countries are expected to begin soon and an answer will be found sooner than later. “Representatives from our Civil Aviation Board were here a couple of days ago. It’s a matter of mutually convenient schedule to commence air service negotiations between the countries,” she said. Giving certain hint about Philippines Airlines resuming its Delhi-Manila service, the Ambassador said that there is “interest being shown” by certain airlines to “resume services”. “If that happens it will be a big boost to our tourism and our tourism promotions in the Indian market.”

Talking about Visa facilitation, the Ambassador said that they have been “constantly fine tuning” their visa process so that it becomes easy. She said that the Philippines offers visa free entry for 14 days to Indian passport holders with a valid Australia, US, UK, Japan, Canada or Schengen visa, for tourism purposes. This can further be extended for 7 more days. She said that the processes are quite ‘straightforward” for those who want to apply for visa from the Embassy in Delhi and consulates in other cities like Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, she said.
