Beginning March, aiport will be at your fingertips

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has given clearance for biometric-based entry and passage through security checkpoints and boarding at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).
The Department Related Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, in its report that was placed before both the Houses of the Parliament last week, has stated that the country’s regulatory authority for civil aviation security has given an in-principle nod to biometric-based entry and passage.
The committee in its 256th report on Issues related to improving consumers’ satisfaction of airlines, said, “BCAS has also given in-principle clearance for biometric based entry and passage through security checkpoints and boarding at Bengaluru Airport.”

The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) that operates the airport has already issued a Request For Proposal (RFP) to vendors to implement the Aadhaar Enabled Entry and Biometric Boarding System at KIA.
BIAL has also conducted successful pilot trials for Aadhaar

enabled entry and biometric e-boarding process, which was successfully completed with live flights.As per the RFP issued in October 2017, Phase-1 of Aadhaar-enabled entry and biometric boarding system at KIA will go live by March, while the Phase-2 of the project covering all domestic airlines will go live by October.
Phase-3, which will cover all international airlines, will go live in December.
