Govt approves visa on arrival for tourists from 11 countries

New Delhi:  Tourists from 11 countries can now avail of visa-on-arrival (VoA) facility at four additional airports - Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. The Union home ministry has approved introduction of the tourist VoA facility at these airports with effect from August 15, according to minister of state for home MullapallyRamachandran.


So far, the tourists could get visa-on-arrival only upon disembarking at international airports at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. This facility - now available to the nationals of New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Finland, Luxem Bourg, Phillippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and Myanmar - was introduced by the MHA in 2009.
Ramachandran said the civil aviation ministry will provide logistical support to implement the TVoA facility and also inform airport operators.
